Scale
  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Avoid overmixing.
  2. Shape the mixture into 6 to 8 oval-shaped patties.
  3. Heat an oven-safe skillet on medium heat and brown the patties for 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the sliced onions until soft (about 4 to 5 minutes).
  5. Add flour and stir for 2 minutes, then whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until thickened (about 3-5 minutes).
  6. Nestle the browned patties into the gravy, ensuring they are mostly covered.
  7. Cover the skillet and bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
