Browned Butter Cereal Bars

Delightful cereal bars that combine crisp cereal, sweet marshmallows, and salty pretzels, all held together by rich browned butter.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups white fudge-covered miniature pretzels
  • 1 package (10 ounces) miniature marshmallows
  • 1 package (10 to 12 ounces) white baking chips
  • 2 cups butter, cubed
  • 3 packages (10 ounces each) large marshmallows
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 cups Cap’n Crunch cereal

Instructions

  1. Line a 15x10x1-inch pan with parchment paper, letting the ends extend over the sides for easier removal later.
  2. Place the white fudge-covered pretzels, miniature marshmallows, and white baking chips in the freezer for 1 hour.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the frozen pretzels, marshmallows, and baking chips.
  4. Melt the cubed butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring constantly for about 10-13 minutes until browned.
  5. Add the large marshmallows to the pot and stir until melted.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt into the marshmallow mixture.
  7. Add the Cap’n Crunch cereal and stir until fully coated.
  8. Gently fold in the pretzel mixture until well combined.
  9. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press evenly with a buttered spatula.
  10. Let cool completely at room temperature, then lift out using parchment paper.
  11. Cut into bars of desired size and store in an airtight container.

Notes

These bars can be stored at room temperature for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
