Soft, buttery, and slightly sweet rolls that mimic the famous Texas Roadhouse rolls, perfect for pairing with many meals.

  • Total Time: 75 minutes
  • Yield: 18-20 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup water (warmed to 110 degrees)
  • 1 Tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 33/4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup milk (warmed slightly to take off the chill)
  • 1/4 cup melted salted butter (cooled slightly)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg (slightly beaten)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 additional Tbsp melted butter for brushing
  • 1 cup salted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Melt your 1/4 cup butter and set aside to cool slightly. Warm your 3/4 cup milk in the microwave for 1 minute to take any chill off and set aside.
  2. In your mixer bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Stir and let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add 3-3/4 cups of flour, warmed milk, slightly cooled melted butter, 1/3 cup sugar, egg, and salt.
  4. Mix with your dough hook on low speed until combined.
  5. Increase speed to 2 and knead for 5 minutes, adding up to an additional 3/4 cup flour as needed until dough is tacky but not sticky.
  6. Scrape dough into a ball, spray the bowl, cover with saran wrap and a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1-1/2 hours until doubled.
  7. Punch dough down and transfer to a floured surface. Knead into a ball.
  8. Roll dough into a rectangle about 1 inch thick and cut into 18-20 squares.
  9. Place squares on a cookie sheet lined with parchment and cover with a towel for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter after baking.
  11. To make the cinnamon honey butter, whip together room temperature butter with honey and cinnamon until smooth.
  12. Serve rolls warm with cinnamon honey butter.

Notes

Store cooled rolls in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat frozen rolls in the oven or microwave.
