- 8 oz cream cheese, partially softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese and butter until smooth and slightly fluffy.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla to the bowl.
- Mix on low speed until combined.
- Once combined, increase the speed to high and whip until light and fluffy.
- Transfer the frosting to the freezer for 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes, mix briefly again to incorporate any firmness.
- Repeat this process up to 2 more times until the frosting is firm enough to frost without being runny.
- Frost your cupcakes or cake and keep the dessert refrigerated.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
