Cream Cheese Frosting

A rich and creamy cream cheese frosting with a slight tang, perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, partially softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese and butter until smooth and slightly fluffy.
  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla to the bowl.
  3. Mix on low speed until combined.
  4. Once combined, increase the speed to high and whip until light and fluffy.
  5. Transfer the frosting to the freezer for 3 minutes.
  6. After 3 minutes, mix briefly again to incorporate any firmness.
  7. Repeat this process up to 2 more times until the frosting is firm enough to frost without being runny.
  8. Frost your cupcakes or cake and keep the dessert refrigerated.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
