Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole spelt flour
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine spelt flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in dark chocolate and sunflower seeds.
  5. Mix milk and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  7. Cut into triangles or rounds and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
