Amaretto Sour

A smooth and sweet Amaretto Sour cocktail, perfectly balanced with fresh lemon juice and a hint of sweetness.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces amaretto liqueur
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, strained
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup, or to taste
  • Optional: 0.5 ounce bourbon (for a stronger profile)
  • Optional: 0.75 ounce pasteurized egg white or 1 tablespoon aquafaba (for foam)
  • Ice for shaking and fresh ice for serving
  • Garnish: maraschino or cocktail cherry, and a lemon wheel or twist

Instructions

  1. Add amaretto, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker. If using egg white or aquafaba, add it now.
  2. Do a dry shake first if you added egg or aquafaba. Shake without ice for 10 to 12 seconds to create foam.
  3. Add ice and shake again until the shaker is frosty, about 12 to 15 seconds.
  4. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. If you used egg or aquafaba, you can double strain to keep it extra smooth.
  5. Garnish with a cherry and lemon. A twist over the top adds a bright citrus aroma.

Notes

For a gentler sweetness, consider using honey syrup instead of simple syrup. Squeeze fresh lemon juice right before mixing for the best flavor.
