Ingredients

  • Tart apples (Granny Smith or other tart varieties)
  • Caramel bits or squares (ensure gluten-free)
  • A splash of non-dairy milk or heavy cream
  • Sturdy sticks (popsicle, lollipop, or chopsticks)
  • Wax paper or parchment
  • Optional toppings (crushed cookies, nuts, mini chocolate chips, gluten-free sprinkles)

Instructions

  1. Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax and dry them completely.
  2. Insert sticks into the tops of the apples and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramel bits and non-dairy milk. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  4. Roll cold apples in caramel, twirling to remove excess, and place on wax paper.
  5. Add toppings while the caramel is still gooey.
  6. Let the caramel set before serving, or store in the fridge for up to three days.
