Ingredients
- Tart apples (Granny Smith or other tart varieties)
- Caramel bits or squares (ensure gluten-free)
- A splash of non-dairy milk or heavy cream
- Sturdy sticks (popsicle, lollipop, or chopsticks)
- Wax paper or parchment
- Optional toppings (crushed cookies, nuts, mini chocolate chips, gluten-free sprinkles)
Instructions
- Wash apples thoroughly to remove wax and dry them completely.
- Insert sticks into the tops of the apples and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramel bits and non-dairy milk. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Roll cold apples in caramel, twirling to remove excess, and place on wax paper.
- Add toppings while the caramel is still gooey.
- Let the caramel set before serving, or store in the fridge for up to three days.
Notes
For a vegan version, use dairy-free caramel and non-dairy milk. Store wrapped in the fridge for up to three days.
