- 1 bag Fritos
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the pan: Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment or foil and lightly spray if necessary.
- Spread the chips: Empty the bag of Fritos onto the prepared sheet in an even layer.
- Cook the syrup: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and corn syrup. Stir gently until bubbly, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stir in peanut butter: Remove from heat, add peanut butter, vanilla, and salt, stirring until smooth.
- Pour and coat: Quickly pour the warm mixture over the Fritos and toss to coat.
- Optional chocolate finish: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the mixture, let them melt, and swirl with a spoon.
- Set and break: Allow the candy to cool at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until firm, or refrigerate for 10 minutes if needed.
Notes
This candy is versatile. You can substitute Fritos with pretzels or kettle chips for different textures.
