Easy Vegan Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/3 cup onion (finely diced)
  • 5 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon dried sage
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning (optional)
  • 2 cups vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. In a medium pot over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add in the onion and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  2. Whisk in the flour, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, dried sage, salt, and pepper until a paste forms.
  3. Slowly whisk in the broth gradually to avoid lumps in the gravy.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and then lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 6 to 8 minutes to thicken.
  5. If desired, use a blender or hand blender to blend the gravy to your preferred texture.

Notes
