French Toast Casserole

A delicious blend of classic French toast and a convenient casserole, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 7 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 loaves (24 oz) soft French bread, cut into 3/4-inch slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush your baking dish with melted butter.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and cinnamon until well blended.
  3. Add the milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
  4. Dip slices of French bread into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak briefly.
  5. Place the soaked bread slices into the baking dish in rows.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes until cooked through, tenting with foil if the top browns too quickly.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving with maple syrup or toppings of choice.

Notes

Stale bread is recommended for better absorption. Cover leftovers with plastic wrap; they will remain good for about 3 days.
