Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- 7 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 loaves (24 oz) soft French bread, cut into 3/4-inch slices
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush your baking dish with melted butter.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and cinnamon until well blended.
- Add the milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.
- Dip slices of French bread into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak briefly.
- Place the soaked bread slices into the baking dish in rows.
- Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes until cooked through, tenting with foil if the top browns too quickly.
- Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving with maple syrup or toppings of choice.
Notes
Stale bread is recommended for better absorption. Cover leftovers with plastic wrap; they will remain good for about 3 days.
