Fruit-Filled Morning Buns

Soft and sweet rolls filled with jam or fresh fruit, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • Filling (jam or fresh fruit of choice)
  • Additional butter for brushing
  • Sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl.
  2. Combine warm milk, melted butter, and egg in another bowl.
  3. Mix wet and dry ingredients, knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough and spread your choice of jam or fruit evenly.
  6. Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 pieces.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle sugar on top.
  10. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Allow cooling slightly before serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, use less sugar or whole wheat flour. Serve warm or at room temperature.
