Fudge Topped Brownies

A delightful treat combining rich chocolate brownies and creamy fudge topping, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, cubed
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 4 and 1/2 cups sugar (for topping)
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed (for topping)
  • 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 package (11 and 1/2 ounces) milk chocolate chips
  • 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for topping)
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and chocolate in a heavy saucepan or microwave until smooth.
  2. Blend in the 2 cups of sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  3. Add the eggs and mix well until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add to the chocolate mixture and stir until smooth.
  5. Fold in chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 13”x9” baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until the top springs back when lightly touched.
  8. Cool on a wire rack while preparing the topping.
  9. In a saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, and butter for topping, bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  10. Add chocolate chips, marshmallow creme, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth. Mix in walnuts.
  11. Pour the topping over the warm brownies and spread evenly.
  12. Freeze for 3 hours or until firm. Cut into 1-inch squares.

Notes

These brownies can be served warm or cold and can be enjoyed with ice cream or drizzled with syrup.
