- 1 cup butter, cubed
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 4 and 1/2 cups sugar (for topping)
- 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup butter, cubed (for topping)
- 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 package (11 and 1/2 ounces) milk chocolate chips
- 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for topping)
- 2 cups chopped walnuts (for topping)
Instructions
- Melt the butter and chocolate in a heavy saucepan or microwave until smooth.
- Blend in the 2 cups of sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
- Add the eggs and mix well until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add to the chocolate mixture and stir until smooth.
- Fold in chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into a greased 13”x9” baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until the top springs back when lightly touched.
- Cool on a wire rack while preparing the topping.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, and butter for topping, bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add chocolate chips, marshmallow creme, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth. Mix in walnuts.
- Pour the topping over the warm brownies and spread evenly.
- Freeze for 3 hours or until firm. Cut into 1-inch squares.
Notes
These brownies can be served warm or cold and can be enjoyed with ice cream or drizzled with syrup.
