Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup crushed cookies (such as Oreo)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in heavy cream and crushed cookies until just combined.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and shape into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into 12 wedges.
- Place on prepared baking sheet and bake for 14-15 minutes or until lightly golden.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled scones and let set before serving.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider using low-fat cream or less sugar in the glaze. Make sure to keep the butter cold for a flaky texture.
