- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- Cup candy, nuts, or dried fruit – or more if desired
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder (optional)
- Your favorite candies, sprinkles, icing tubes
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars on medium speed until combined.
- Blend in the eggs and vanilla. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and baking powder on low speed until combined; the batter will be thick.
- You can refrigerate the dough for at least an hour or bake immediately.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Split the dough into 3 equal pieces, combining 2 of them into one large piece.
- Prepare a muffin pan with cooking spray and press the larger piece of dough into each muffin cup.
- Bake for 13-16 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool in the muffin tin for 5 minutes before filling.
- Roll out the remaining small piece of dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut out round cookie tops.
- Bake the tops for 8-10 minutes and cool. Decorate and place on top of filled baskets.
- Serve and enjoy!
