- 1 pound Fresh green beans (trimmed)
- 1 can Cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup Whole milk (or plant-based milk for lighter option)
- 1 teaspoon Onion powder
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
- a pinch Black pepper
- 1 cup French fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash and trim the fresh green beans. Cut off the stem ends and cut beans in half if desired.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a pinch of salt.
- Add the green beans to the boiling water and blanch for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Drain the beans and run them under cold water to stop the cooking.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup and milk, stirring until smooth.
- Add onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture and stir well.
- Mix in the blanched green beans until they are well coated.
- Pour the mixture into a baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25 minutes until the sauce bubbles gently around the edges.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle French fried onions on top.
- Return to oven and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes until the onions are golden and crisp.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
This casserole pairs well with roasted meats and can be adjusted to be dairy-free or lighter if desired.
