Make-Ahead Tiramisu

A classic Italian dessert with rich coffee flavor and creamy texture, this make-ahead tiramisu is perfect for gatherings and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1/4 cup 2 percent milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 packages (3 ounces each) ladyfingers, split
  • 1 tablespoon baking cocoa

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Set aside to let it cool.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until the mixture is smooth.
  3. To the cream cheese mix, beat in the sour cream, milk, and vanilla extract until everything is well-blended.
  4. Take one package of ladyfingers and layer them in an ungreased 11×7-inch dish.
  5. Use a brush to soak the ladyfingers with half of the coffee mixture. Make sure the ladyfingers soak up some flavor but do not get too soggy.
  6. Top the soaked ladyfingers with half of the cream cheese mixture, spreading it evenly.
  7. Repeat by layering the other package of ladyfingers, brushing them with the remaining coffee mixture, and topping with the cream cheese mixture.
  8. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  9. Before serving, sprinkle the top with baking cocoa.

Notes

For best flavor, prepare the tiramisu a day in advance. Serve cold with a dollop of whipped cream or chocolate shavings.
