Panna Cotta

A smooth and creamy Italian dessert that melts in your mouth, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp cold water
  • 4 tsp (12 g) gelatin
  • 3 cups (710 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (235 ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Pour cold water into a bowl, add gelatin, and mix. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Fill a large bowl with ice and cold water to create an ice bath.
  3. In a saucepan, bring heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt to a simmer while stirring frequently. Remove from heat once simmering.
  4. Heat the gelatin mixture in the microwave for 10-15 seconds until melted, then whisk into the cream mixture for 30 seconds.
  5. Set the saucepan over the ice bath, stirring until cool. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Divide the mixture among 8 ramekins, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
  7. To unmold, run a knife around the edges, dip the ramekin in hot water, then invert onto a plate.

Notes

Panna cotta can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for about a month. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
