Pepperoni Bread with Frozen Bread Dough

A fun and tasty treat made with savory pepperoni, gooey cheese, and soft bread dough, perfect for family gatherings or as a snack.

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf (1 pound) frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 8 ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup pickled pepper rings
  • 1 medium green pepper, diced
  • 1 can (2-1/4 ounces) sliced ripe olives
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Take the thawed bread dough and roll it out into a rectangle of about 15 by 10 inches on a greased baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the egg yolks, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Spread the mixture over the rolled-out dough evenly using a pastry brush.
  5. Sprinkle the sliced pepperoni on top of the dough followed by mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, pickled pepper rings, diced green pepper, and sliced olives.
  6. Roll the dough up from one of the long sides, jelly-roll style, pinching the seam to seal and tucking the ends under.
  7. Position the loaf seam side down on the baking sheet and brush the top with egg whites. Do not let the dough rise.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and cooked through, about 35 to 40 minutes.
  9. While the bread is baking, warm the pizza sauce in a small pot.
  10. Once baked, let the pepperoni bread cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with warm pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
