- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
- 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
- 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Brown the beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until slightly pink, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Add onions and seasonings: Add diced onion, thyme, parsley, salt, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook until onions are soft, about 3-5 minutes.
- Prepare the slow cooker: Transfer meat and onion mixture to the slow cooker. Add chopped cabbage on top.
- Make the sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Stir until smooth.
- Combine ingredients: Pour the sauce over the mixture in the slow cooker and mix gently.
- Cook: Cover slow cooker and set to low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
Notes
Serve hot with bread or a fresh salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for 3 months.
