Southern Coleslaw

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head green cabbage, shredded (about 8 cups)
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 4 to 5 carrots, shredded
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded green cabbage and red cabbage.
  2. Add the shredded carrots to the cabbage mix and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot mixture.
  5. Toss everything together until the vegetables are fully coated with the dressing.
  6. Cover the bowl or transfer the coleslaw to an airtight container.
  7. Refrigerate overnight to let the flavors blend.

Notes

For a sweeter twist, consider adding diced apples or pineapple. You can also add fresh herbs for extra flavor.
