- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup strawberry sauce
- Buttercream frosting
- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla. Mix until blended.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with the batter and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely. Once cooled, cut a small hole in the center of each cupcake and fill it with strawberry sauce.
- Frost the cupcakes with buttercream frosting, adding some streaks of red food coloring to create a bloody effect.
Notes
Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage.
